Aquaborn birth pool from Aquabub

Aquaborn Eco Birth Pool

It’s been a while since I last updated here and lots has changed since my last post back in August 2010!! In September Aquabub underwent a restructure and is now focussed primarily on inflatable birth pools for sale and for hire, as well as a small range of products for pregnancy and labour. Our quality brands of baby carriers (Manduca, Kozy Carrier and Storchenwiege) and our range of Baltic amber teething necklaces and jewellery now have a new home over at My Natural Baby Ltd which is our new business which launched on 1 September 2010. So Aquabub has returned to it’s beginnings as the business started out with just one la bassine birth pool for hire – the pool I’d laboured in with my first son.

We are very pleased to have recently added the fabulous Aquaborn Eco Inflatable Birth Pool to our range (pictured above). We have Aquaborn professional and Aquaborn personal use pools available for purchase in New Zealand, and we are now offering the Aquaborn professional birth pool for hire along with the others in our ‘hire pool’ – Birth Pool in a Box, la bassine and Electra. The Aquaborn birth pools can be purchased via the Aquabub website. For hire enquiries see the contact us page on the Aquabub website for our email address.

Best wishes

Meet Lydia Persson – winner of the Kiwi Connect2mums Prize Pack

Lydia Persson (R) with daughter Brylie and new baby Elijah. And that's me on the left with Aiden in a Kozy Carrier.

Last month I ran a promotion here on the Aquabub blog featuring prizes from some of our fabulous New Zealand Connect2mums members. Connect2mums is an interactive online magazine connecting and supporting Mums from all walks of life and especially Mums in business.

I was very pleased to be able to personally deliver the prize pack to winner and new Connect2mums member Lydia Persson of Tauranga and owner of LittleKiwis. Lydia’s daughter Brylie was excited to check out the goodies in the prize pack and quickly took a shine to the drum from Bubbalooz (see the picture above!)

Lydia started her business LittleKiwis at the beginning of 2005 when her friends started having babies. Tired of trying to find something ‘different and unique’ to give as gifts, she decided to make gifts herself. She started with bibs with a New Zealand flavour and was soon taking orders, including from some daycare centres. The LittleKiwis range now also includes Plunket Book covers, summer hats, winter beanies, booties, burp cloths, washable breast pads, play / change mats and more.

It was lovely to meet Lydia and her beautiful children. The prize pack was very well received by both Lydia and Brylie (Elijah’s a bit too little to notice yet ;0). Another big thank you to all the prize sponsors, Aquabub (that’s me!), Bubbalooz, Karyn Riley, MumCho, Onesie Bummsie, Scamps Boutique and StickyTiki.

Auckland Sling Walk – the video!!!

Back in September I wrote about International Babywearing Week 2009 and the events we were going to be supporting. One event over that week was a ‘Sling Walk’ I’d organised and asked a friend to capture some video footage as we walked around a Mall for a bit then on to a Park down the road. I have finally found time (or rather made time!) to get the footage edited and made a video of our walk. I hope you will enjoy it! It’s the first time I’ve done any video editing!!

Examples of a Mei Tai (Kozy Carrier and a home-made Mei Tai), Soft-structured carrier (Manduca) and wraps including a Vatanai Wrap in Maruyama colourway feature in the video.

International Babywearing Week 2009 – we had a blast in Auckland!

It’s been a couple of weeks now but I want to share a little of what we got up to to help celebrate International Babywearing Week 2009.

Of course we ran a special on Kozy Carrier – the gold standard in mei tai style carriers, and Bear Hug Baby super comfy ring slings.

We attended the Sling Expo on the Friday, organised by Slingbabies , a non-profit babywearing advocacy group, which was a great success. It was a fun family day with a sausage sizzle and bouncy castle for the kids. The sling vendor’s enjoyed showing their wares and helping visitors try out some slings, and the Slingbabies sling library was well showcased too. Pictured below is my husband Duncan (not long before he went and sizzled some sausages on the bbq), wearing our almost three year old son in a Kozy, alongside a visitor who tried her new baby in a Kozy Carrier too.

We participated in the Auckland sling walk on the Sunday, organised by Aquabub and supported by Slingbabies. We were thankful the previously rainy weather took a turn for the better and we enjoyed a dry walk to the park after walking around the Mall and turning a few heads. The kids enjoyed playing at the park afterwards and we all enjoyed a picnic under a tree. A friend volunteered his time to video the walk and he enjoyed the walk with his young family as well. When I’ve had a chance to edit and splice the footage I’ll post the video here!

Here’s a pic of a few of us from the Auckland Sling Walk. That’s me on the left with my nine month old Aiden in my Windy Day Kozy Carrier.

And here’s a pic of me and my boys enjoying relaxing at the park and watching the birds after the walk.
