It’s been a couple of weeks now but I want to share a little of what we got up to to help celebrate International Babywearing Week 2009.

Of course we ran a special on Kozy Carrier – the gold standard in mei tai style carriers, and Bear Hug Baby super comfy ring slings.

We attended the Sling Expo on the Friday, organised by Slingbabies , a non-profit babywearing advocacy group, which was a great success. It was a fun family day with a sausage sizzle and bouncy castle for the kids. The sling vendor’s enjoyed showing their wares and helping visitors try out some slings, and the Slingbabies sling library was well showcased too. Pictured below is my husband Duncan (not long before he went and sizzled some sausages on the bbq), wearing our almost three year old son in a Kozy, alongside a visitor who tried her new baby in a Kozy Carrier too.

We participated in the Auckland sling walk on the Sunday, organised by Aquabub and supported by Slingbabies. We were thankful the previously rainy weather took a turn for the better and we enjoyed a dry walk to the park after walking around the Mall and turning a few heads. The kids enjoyed playing at the park afterwards and we all enjoyed a picnic under a tree. A friend volunteered his time to video the walk and he enjoyed the walk with his young family as well. When I’ve had a chance to edit and splice the footage I’ll post the video here!

Here’s a pic of a few of us from the Auckland Sling Walk. That’s me on the left with my nine month old Aiden in my Windy Day Kozy Carrier.

And here’s a pic of me and my boys enjoying relaxing at the park and watching the birds after the walk.
